Britain controlled tanzania after world war i until independence in 1963, yet zanzibar – under omani control for hundreds of years after its capture from the portuguese – remained a british protectorate thereafter, ceded during the revolution in 1963.

The colour scheme here is of course blue and gold – what else for the empire? Sited on the edge of the hilltop overlooking chole bay and our private beach towards chole, juani and jibondo islands.
