Pool Near the Beach
The Pool
Mafia Island's first pool was a mammoth task to construct by hand back in 1996. I flew the filter and pump and other bits and pieces down from Nairobi after squeezing it all into the four-seat Cessna and then we could not get it out in Mafia without removing the doors !
We use a clearwater system so chemical use is minimised. In nearly 25 years apart from the refreshingly cool waters of the pool, so many people have learnt to take their first lessons in diving in the pool, so it has been a great asset for our guests. It has also been the centre stage for many seafood barbecues, at its alfresco grill and dining area.
Private Beach
Kinasi has its own small private beach that is beautifully groomed and tended each day. Located below the swimming pool, and next to the Spa the beach area is landscaped with coconut palms Terminalia and white mangrove trees for shade, so it provides a quiet undisturbed retreat.
For comfort there are beach bed and umbrella stands set into the lawns. This part of the Bay is tidal so swimming is possible only when the tide is in at our beach.
